ITHACA, NY – One school record fell, as the RIT women's swimming and diving team currently sits in seventh place out of 16 teams with 111 points after Wednesday's action at the UNYSCSCA Championships, held at the Ithaca College Athletics and Events Center. Host Ithaca has the team lead with 255.5 points.
The 200-yard medley relay team of
Olivia Phillips (Louisville, CO/Fairview),
Amy Adams (Erie, PA/Collegiate Academy),
Genevieve Senecal (Westfield, MA/Westfield), and
Daylen Smith (Lockwood, NY/Waverly) smashed a school record by finishing fourth in a time of 1:49.51 in the finals. Earlier in the day, the group recorded a time of 1:50.31 to break the school record of 1:50.56, set last season by
Brenna Woodling (Williamsville, NY/Williamsville East),
Megan O'Connor (Spring City, PA/Owen J. Roberts), Senecal, and
Kelsey Schaefer (Berea, OH/Berea).
Smith also finished 12th in the 50-yard freestyle in a snappy time of 24.98 seconds.
Katrina Mayer (Bristol, VT/Vergennes Union) was 21st overall in the event with a time of 25.40 in the final. She swam the prelims in 25.28 earlier in the day
Grace Morales (South Riding, VA/Freedom) placed 13th overall in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 5:17.61, while
Adeline Maykish (Caldwell, NJ/Caldwell) was 20th in a time of 5:22.01. She went a time of 5:19.68 in the prelims earlier in the day.
Senecal and
Amy Adams (Erie, PA/Collegiate Academy) were 15th and 18th in the 200-yard individual medley. Senecal went in 2:16.18 in the finals, while Adams recorded a solid time of 2:14.09. Adams had a time of 2:17.98 in the prelims earlier in the day to move to the "C" final.
Action resumes on Thursday, with prelims starting at 10 a.m. and championship events getting underway at 6 p.m.
