UTICA, NY -- The RIT women's swimming and diving team defeated Utica College 150-69 in Empire 8 swimming action on Saturday afternoon. The win improves RIT to 4-3 on the season.
RIT featured six different winners in individual events led by
Caitlyn Burr (Delhi, NY/Delaware Academy) and
Courtney Schwarting (Burnt Hills, NY/Burnt Hills Ballston Lake ) who each won two events on the day.
Burr won the 100-yard (55.47) and the 200-yard breaststroke (2:32.73), and Schwarting won the 1,000-yard freestyle (11:37.81) and the 500-yard freestyle (5:31.47).
Other winners included
Rachel Lorenz (Norwich, NY/Norwich) in the 50-yard freestyle (26.02),
Taylor Whalen (West Seneca, NY/West Seneca) in the 200-yard IM (2:32.74),
Molly Woods (Avon, CT/Avon) in the 200-yard butterfly (2:40.28) and
Melissa Harrison (Binghamton, NY/Chenango Valley) in the 200-yard backstroke (2:25.95.
RIT will host SUNY Geneseo and SUNY New Paltz next Saturday, January 16 at 1 pm at Judson Pool.
