BROCKPORT, NY -- The RIT women's swimming and diving team defeated SUNY Brockport 143-93 on Thursday night in Brockport, New York. The win improves the Tigers to 3-3 in dual meets this season.
In the opening race RIT took first and third in the 200-yard medley relay. The team of
Jenn Hoffman (Rochester, NY/Greece Athena),
Kerzia Hopson (Norwich, NY/Norwich),
Caitlyn Burr (Delhi, NY/Delaware Academy) and
Sara Kucsan (Bridgewater, NJ/Bridgewater-Raritan ) took first place for RIT in a time of 1:57.51.
Burr,
Rachel Lorenz (Norwich, NY/Norwich) and
Courtney Schwarting (Burnt Hills, NY/Burnt Hills Ballston Lake ) each won two individual events for RIT. Burr won the 200-yard freestyle (1:58.14) and the 200-yard backstroke (2:13.38). Her time in the 200 back was a pool record that had stood since 1995.
Schwarting won the 1,000-yard freestyle in a time of 11:37.35, and the 100-yard freestyle in a time of 58.97. Lorenz won the 200-yard IM in a time of 2:21.18 and the 500-yard freestyle in a time of 5:43.62.
Hopson was a winner in the 50-yard freestyle (26.55), while Stephanie Davis won the 200-yard butterfly (2:31.57).
The Tigers retunr to action on Saturday, January 9 against Empire 8 for Utica College. The meet gets underway at 1 pm in Utica, New York.
