ROCHESTER, NY - The RIT women's swimming and diving team finished fifth out of six teams at the 2009 Don Richard's Tournament held at the Judson Pool.  The Tigers finished with 448.5 points.  Ithaca placed first overall with a final score of 933 points.

On Friday, the 200-yard medley relay team of Jenna Hoffman (Rochester, NY/Greece Athena), Kersia Hopson, Caitlyn Burr (Delhi, NY/Delaware Academy), and Sara Kucsan (Bridgewater, NJ/Bridgewater-Raritan ) finished sixth with a time of 1:54.37. Kucsan swam the anchor leg in a 25.50 seconds.

Diver Cat Jonest was third overall in the 1-meter diving event, with 334.45 points.  She also finished third in the 3-meter with an identical score of 334.45.

On Saturday, Burr placed second in the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 2:10.13, and third in the 100-fly with a time of :58.78 seconds.

The 800-yard freestyle relay team of Courtney Schwarting (Burnt Hills, NY/Burnt Hills Ballston Lake ), Rachel Redfearn (Marshfield, MA/Sacred Heart), Rachel Lorenz (Norwich, NY/Norwich), and Burr were fourth in a time of 8:16.48.  Burr swam the anchor leg in 1:56.25.

Kucsan, Lorenz, Redfearn, and Hoffman combined to finish fourth in the 200-free relay in a time of 1:42.15.  Hoffman swam the final 50-yards in 25.91 seconds.  All four swimmers broke 27 seconds.

Hoffman was fifth in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:03.57.  Schwarting placed seventh in the 200-free in 2:02.79.

On Sunday, the 400-yard medley relay team of Hoffman, Kerzia Hopson (Norwich, NY/Norwich),Burr and Kucsan finished fifth with a time of 4:14.93.

Burr placed first in the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 2:10.71.

The 400-yard freestyle relay team of Kucsan, Lorenz, Redfearn and Burr placed fourth with a time of 3:49.48.

The Tiger's are back in action on Saturday, at home, against the University of Rochester.  The meet starts at 1 p.m.
