CLINTON, NY -- The RIT women's cross country team earned a strong fifth place finish of out 10 teams in sloppy conditions at the NYSCTC Championship at the Hamilton College Golf Course on Satutrday afternoon. The Tigers finished with a team score of 149 points.
St. Lawrence won the team title with 35 points. Wendy Pavlas of St. Lawrence was the top individual runner, completing the course in 18:28.4.
Freshman
Erin LaFave (Troy, MI/Bloomfield Hills Lahser) (Troy, MI/Bloomfield Hills Lahser) was RIT's top finisher, placing 11th overall out of 97 runners, completing the 5,000-meter course in 19:46.5.
Junior
Samantha Hawn (Spencerport, NY/Spencerport) (Rochester, NY/Spencerport) was RIT's second highest finisher, placing 18th overall with a time of 20:15.1. Sophomore
Arielle Januszkiewicz (Amherst, NY/Amherst) (Amherst, NY/Amherst) finished 22nd in a time of 20:18.7
Sophomore
Abby Aker (Chelmsford, MA/Chelmsford) (Chelmsford, MA/Chelmsford) was 47th overall with a time of 21:28, while
Emily Clark (Brant, NY/Lake Shore) (Brant, NY/Lake Shore) rounded out RIT's top-five, placing 51st in 21:46.3.
The Tigers are back in action on Saturday, November 15, as they compete at the NCAA Atlantic Region Qualifier in Canton, N.Y. at 11 a.m.
