ROCHESTER, NY - Junior swimmer
Caitlyn Burr (Delhi, NY/Delaware Academy) (Delhi, NY/Delaware Academy) of the RIT women's swimming and diving team was named the Empire 8 Women's Swimming and Diving swimmer of the week on Monday for the week ending Nov. 9, 2008. It is Burr's second straight weekly honor.
Burr won two solo events, set a school record and was part of a winning relay team in the victory over St. Lawrence on Saturday. She won her first event of the day with a first place in the 200-yard butterfly. She won the event in a time of 2:10.97, beating her closest opponent by nearly 15 seconds, breaking her own record in the process. She also won the 100-fly with a time of 59.63 and was the only swimmer to go under a minute. She also was part of the 200-medley relay team that won in 1:56.42.
The Tigers are back in action when they host the Don Richards Invitational from Dec. 5-7, 2008.
