Four members of Class of 2017 to play professional hockey in 2017-18

Caleb Cameron, Alex Perron-Fontaine, Todd Skirving and Danny Smith sign pro deals

ROCHESTER, NY – Former RIT men's hockey players Caleb Cameron (Sundridge, Ontario/Listowel Cyclones), Alex Perron-Fontaine (St. Mathieu de Beloeil, Quebec/Chilliwack Chiefs), Todd Skirving (Thunder Bay, Ontario/Sioux Falls Stampede) and Danny Smith (Edmonton, Alberta/Sherwood Park Crusaders), members of the Class of 2017, have signed contracts to play professional hockey for the 2017-18 season. Caleb and Perron-Fontaine will play in Europe, while Skirving and Smith will stay in the United States.
 
Cameron will play the 2017-18 season with the Essen Moskitos in Germany. Last season, he recorded a career-high 20 points on six goals and 14 assists in 35 games. In four seasons at the university, Cameron tallied 58 points on 20 goals and 38 assists in 131 career games. He was named the Louis Spiotti Coaches Award Winner in 2017.
 
Perron-Fontaine will play with Briancon in France this upcoming season. He played in 92 games over four seasons with the Tigers, tallying seven goals and eight assists. Last season, Perron-Fontaine was limited by injury, playing in 14 games. He had a career-high seven points in 27 games during the 2015-16 season, while playing both forward and defense.
 
Skirving inked a deal with the Orlando Solar Bears of the ECHL for the 2017-18 season on Aug. 3. He appeared in 127 games over four seasons at RIT, recording 51 points in 19 goals and 32 assists. Skirving recorded career-high totals of eight goals, 14 assists and 22 points as a freshman in 2013-14. He was RIT's Green B. Williams Award Winner for Academic Excellence in 2016-17.
 
Smith is set to sign with the Rapid City Rush of the ECHL. In four seasons at RIT, he recorded 20 goals and 28 assists for 48 points in 135 career games. Last season, he had 14 points on five goals and nine assists in 35 games. He was an Atlantic Hockey Defensive Player of the Week in 2014-15 and Rookie of the Week in 2013-14.
