ROCHESTER, NY – Six members of the RIT women's lacrosse team were named to the 2017 Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) Zag Sports Academic Honor Roll.
Nicole Bingo (Webster, NY/Webster Schroeder),
Kaitlyn Dolan (North Andover, MA/North Andover),
Emily Livecchi (Rochester, NY/Our Lady of Mercy),
Brooks Melnyk (East Amherst, NY/Williamsville East),
Julia Spier (Fulton, NY/G. Ray Bodley) and Megan Schmauder received the prestigious honor for the Tigers.
In order to be eligible for this honor, student-athletes must be a junior, senior, or graduate student, and earn a cumulative academic grade point average of 3.50 or greater.
Bingo, a senior physician assistant major and tri-captain, was also a 2016 academic honor roll selection. This season, Bingo started all 16 games, tallying a career-high 23 points on 19 goals and four assists. A three-time Liberty League All-Academic selection, Bingo scooped up 26 ground balls, and caused 14 turnovers and won a career-high 43 draw controls.
Dolan, a photojournalism major, is a two-time Liberty League All-Academic selection. She played in three games in 2017, helping RIT's defense hold opponents to 10.00 goals per game.
Livecchi, an industrial design major, is a two-time Liberty League All-Academic selection. Livecchi tallied 66 points on 43 goals and 23 assists in 2017, earning First Team All-Liberty League honors, along with garnering IWLCA All-Empire Region Second Team honors.
Melnyk, a biomedical sciences major, is a two-time Liberty League All-Academic selection. She played in all 16 games this season recording six points on four goals and two assists. Melnyk scored a goal and added an assist in a win over The College of Wooster in March.
Spier, a biomedical sciences major and one of three tri-captains, played in 11 games in 2016, grabbing three ground balls, caused two turnovers and had three draw controls. A two-time Liberty League All-Academic selection, Spier helped RIT's defense hold opponents to 10.00 goals per game.
Schmauder, a packaging science major and tri-captain, finished fourth on the team in scoring with 25 points on a career-high 20 goals and five assists in 2017. Schmauder, a two-time Liberty League All-Academic selection, won a career-high 22 draw controls in 2017.
The Tigers posted a team grade-point average of 3.59 in 2016-17 and were selected an IWLCA Academic Honor Squad. RIT had 12 players selected to the 2017 Liberty League Spring All-Academic Team, and finished the season with an 8-8 record.
