ROCHESTER, NY -- The five-time defending Liberty League champion, RIT men's lacrosse team is the 2017 Liberty League preseason favorite in a vote of the league's head coaches. RIT was picked first with 49 points and received six first-place votes. St. Lawrence University is second with 44 points and two first place votes. Union rounds out the top-three with 31 points.
The Tigers, who won the Liberty League fifth straight season in 2016, finished last season with an 18-2 record and made the NCAA Tournament for the 18th time overall and the seventh straight season, advancing to the second round.
RIT, who has won seven straight conference championships including two straight Empire 8 titles in 2010 and 2011, kicks off the season Saturday, Feb. 18 at No. 13 Ohio Wesleyan at 1 p.m. in Delaware, Ohio.
