Men's hockey looks to get back in win column at Atlantic Hockey foe Robert Morris

ROCHESTER, NY – The RIT men's hockey team heads back on the road to play a pair of games at Atlantic Hockey rival Robert Morris University on Friday, Feb. 3 and Saturday, Feb. 4. Both games from 84 Lumber Arena at the RMU Island Sports Center begin at 7:05 p.m.
 
RIT is tied for sixth in the Atlantic Hockey standings with seven games remaining. Robert Morris enters the weekend third, four points ahead of the Tigers. The top five teams receive a first round bye.
 
The Tigers (10-16-1, 10-11-0 Atlantic Hockey) dropped both ends of a weekend series to Bentley, falling 3-2 on Friday and 6-3 Saturday. Caleb Cameron (Sundridge, Ontario/Listowel Cyclones) and Darren Brady (Lake Orion, MI/New Jersey Titans) scored for the Tigers on Friday. On Saturday, Abbott Girduckis (Belleville, Ontario/Wellington Dukes) had a goal and an assist, while Gabe Valenzuela (Brampton, Ontario/North York Rangers) added a pair of assists. Erik Brown (Keene, Ontario/Kemptville 73's) and Jordan Peacock (Burlington, Ontario/Burlington Cougars) also scored.
 
Brown leads the Tigers in scoring with 23 points on 14 goals and nine assists. Valenzuela is second with 19 points on six goals and 13 assists. Brown led the Tigers with eight points in eight January games, while Brady had six points. Goaltender Mike Rotolo (Rochester, NY/Cedar Rapids Roughriders) has appeared in 26 games for the Tigers this season.
 
Robert Morris (15-8-3, 11-7-2 AHC) comes into the weekend series 2-2 over the last two weekends. The Colonials split a road series at Holy Cross last weekend, losing 4-3 on Friday, while winning 6-0 on Saturday. Brady Ferguson leads the Colonials and is fourth overall in Division I with 42 points on 16 goals and 26 assists. Daniel Leavens and Alex Tonge are right behind with 34 and 32 points, respectively. In net, Francis Marotte has appeared in 20 games, compiling a 12-5-2 record to go along with a 2.00 goals against average and a .937 save percentage. Dalton Izyk was in net for the 6-0 shutout win over Holy Cross on Saturday.
 
This weekend marks the third and fourth meetings between the two schools this season. On Oct. 7-8, the Tigers and Colonials split the first two games of the regular season, a 6-3 win for RIT the first night and 6-5 come from behind win for Robert Morris on Oct. 8. RIT, who defeated Robert Morris in the 2016 Atlantic Hockey Championship, is 8-11-4 all-time against the Colonials.
 
Both games will be broadcast over the airwaves on WITR 89.7 FM and witr.rit.edu, while streaming video and live stats will available.
