ROCHESTER, NY -- Junior guard
AJ Horde (Oak Park, MI/University of Detroit Jesuit) of the RIT men's basketball team, was named Liberty League Men's Basketball Performer of the Week for the week ending January 29, 2017. It is Horde's first Liberty League weekly honor of the 2016-17 season and seventh of his collegiate career.
Horde averaged 23.7 points, 7.0 rebounds, 5.0 assists, and 2.7 steals per game in a 3-0 week for the Tigers. On Tuesday, Horde opened the week by scoring a season-high 38 points, while draining 10 shots from 3-point land (one shy of his school record) to go along with seven boards and five assists in a 90-74 win over Hobart. Friday, Horde had seven assists and seven rebounds in a win over Bard. Saturday, Horde recorded his fourth 30-point game of the year, with 31 on 11-of-20 shooting from the field in an 86-83 win over Vassar.
Horde enters this week second in the league in scoring (20.4), assists (5.0) and steals (1.8) per game. The junior guard leads the league averaging 3.1 three-point field goals made per game, and is third in the Liberty League averaging 34.2 minutes per game.
Horde and RIT host a pair of Liberty League contests this weekend. The Tigers host Clarkson University on Friday, Feb. 3 at 8 p.m. and St. Lawrence University on Saturday, Feb. 4 at 4 p.m.
