ROCHESTER, NY -- It was a busy week in RIT Athletics with plenty of highlights. Here is a brief look back at the highlights from the past week and a look ahead at upcoming events.

Women's Soccer: (5-2-1, 1-0-0 Liberty League)
Last Week: RIT went 1-1-0. Wednesday, RIT was defeated 4-0 at home by Nazareth. The Tigers fell behind 3-0 inside the first 21 minutes and could never recover. Saturday, RIT opened Liberty League play with a convincing 4-0 win over Clarkson University. Riley Yankowich (Deerfield Beach, FL/Germantown Academy), Sami Alur (Fremont, CA/Irvington), Mia White (Littleton, CO/Rocky Mountain Deaf School) and Anka Parzych (Niskayuna, NY/Niskayuna) each scored for RIT, while Sienna Fisher (Lewisburg, PA/Lewisburg) got the win in net, making three saves.

This Week: The Tigers play a pair of Liberty League road games, playing at Rensselaer on Friday at 4 p.m., and at Skidmore at 2 p.m. on Saturday. RIT is 5-5-2 all time versus Rensselaer. Last season, the two teams played to a 0-0 draw at Tiger Stadium. The Tigers are 4-5-0 all time versus Skidmore. Last season, RIT defeated the Thoroughbreds 1-0 at Tiger Stadium,

Men's Soccer: (3-3-2, 0-0-1 Liberty League)
Last Week: RIT posted a 1-0-1 record. Wednesday, the Tigers beat cross-town rival Nazareth College 2-1 in overtime. Dean Kouroupas (Ridgefield, CT/Ridgefield) converted a penalty kick in the 97th minute to give the Tigers the win. Akram Meza (Troy, NY/Troy) also scored for the Tigers, while Peter Cinibulk (Bellbrook, OH/Bellbrook) got the win in net, making two saves. Saturday, the Tigers played to a 0-0 draw at Clarkson. Cinibulk was excellent in net again, making two saves.

This Week: RIT hosts a pair of Liberty League contests. Friday, the Tigers host Rensselaer at 4 p.m. Saturday, RIT will host Skidmore College at 2 p.m. Both games will be played at Tiger Stadium. RIT is 14-14-5 all time versus RPI, and 8-6-1 all time versus Skidmore.

Women's Volleyball: (12-5, 6-2 Liberty League)
Last Week: RIT went 3-1 in the second Liberty League Crossover of the season at Vassar and Bard Colleges. The Tigers posted wins over Skidmore, Bard and Union, while falling to Vassar.

In the opening match against Vassar, RIT lost the first two sets by scores of 25-15 and 25-12, but attempted to kick-start a comeback in the third set — but just fell short, dropping the final set, 27-25. Sarah Szybist (Colorado Springs, CO/Ramstein) had 11 kills, but hit just .029 with eight digs, while sophomore Erin Parkinson (Carrollton, TX/W.T. White) finished with 20 assists.

In the second match, the Tigers came back with a 3-0 sweep (25-21, 25-22, 25-21) against Skidmore. Szybist led the way with a double-double, finishing with 20 kills, hitting .376 to go along with 13 digs. Parkinson put together another solid match, leading the floor with 37 assists, along with six digs and two blocks.

In the opener on Saturday, RIT rolled to a 25-16 win in the first set over Bard. In set two, RIT trailed 13-5 early and 20-16 late, before scoring nine of the final 10 points to earn a 25-21 win. In the final set, RIT led throughout en route to a 25-19 victory. Szybist was tremendous for the Tigers in the win over Bard, hitting .571, while slamming 22 kills, to go along with eight digs. Parkinson dished out 35 assists and added eight digs.

Against Union, the two teams traded set wins throughout. RIT opened with a 25-17 win set one before Union evened the match with a 25-20 victory in the second set. In set three, RIT rolled to a 25-10 win before Union once again came back with a 25-16 win in the fourth set. RIT took control in the fifth and decisive set with a 15-10 victory. Overall, RIT had 55 kills and hit .260 as a team, including marks of .375 in the first set and .409 in set two.

This Week: RIT is back in action on Wednesday, as they make the quick trip to take on the University of Rochester from The Palestra at 6 p.m. This weekend, RIT will compete at SUNY Fredonia Tournament.

Women's Tennis:
Last Week: RIT went 1-1 in dual matches last week, while competing at the ITA Regional Championships. On Wednesday, RIT defeated SUNY Cortland 5-4 to remain unbeaten in dual matches.

The Tigers had their four match winning streak to start the season snapped, falling to Division II Roberts Wesleyan College (6-4), 8-1 on Sunday afternoon.

Sophomore Amelia Ying was RIT's lone winner, securing a 6-1, 6-0 win over Marousia Bosch at first singles. Ying also represented RIT at the USTA/ITA Northeast Regional Championships at William Smith College on Saturday. She defeated Paige Webster of Union, 6-1, 6-0 in the first round, before dropping a tough three-set contest to Danielle Gianetti of Skidmore. Ying won the first set 6-4, before Gianetti stormed back to win set two, 6-2 and the third set tiebreaker, 10-8.

This Week: The Tigers are off, but wrap up the fall portion of their schedule on Wednesday, Oct. 5 with a road match at Liberty League foe William Smith College that gets underway at 4 p.m.
 
Men's Tennis:
Last Week: The RIT men's tennis team (0-1) played its first dual match of the 2016-17 season on Sunday, falling at Division II Roberts Wesleyan College (7-0) by a score of 9-0.

At fifth singles, Wade Pines took Jose Carilla to the limit in the opening set before Carilla win 7-5. Spencer Lowitt played well at third singles before falling, 6-4, 6-2 and Jared Ingoglie took points at first singles, before falling 6-3, 6-2.
 
This Week: This week, RIT competes at the Daemen Fall Classic this weekend at Daemen College. Competition begins on Saturday and continues through Sunday.

Women's Crew:
Last Week: RIT women's crew opened the fall season on Sunday, competing in Ithaca College's fourth annual Cayuga Sculling Sprints on the Cayuga Inlet.

Scullers Colleen Ryan (Pittsford, NY/Pittsford Sutherland) and Mickyla Schnupp (Fairport, NY/Fairport) finished with RIT's fastest double combined time (the 2,000-meter time trial added to the 1,000-meter sprint) for a final result of 18:21.3, placing them eighth overall in the field.

Tiger scullers Amy Guthrie (Essex Junction, VT/Essex) Amy Guthrie (Essex Junction, VT/Essex) and Amelia Rothfuss (Wolcott, NY/North-Rose Wolcott) recorded a combined time of 18:31.6, placing them ninth overall. Scullers Taylor Blackwell (Pittsford, NY/Pittsford Sutherland) and Emma Kohler (Manlius, NY/Fayetteville-Manlius) posted a combined time of 18:38.8 for an 11th place overall finish. Racing in a lightweight double, Kysa Willemsen (Sarnia, Ontario/St. Christopher) and Delanie Kneeland (Windham, NH/Windham) had an overall time of 18:48.7, earning them a 13th place finish.

This Week: RIT returns to the water Saturday, Oct. 1 at the Challenge on the Canal in Geneva, NY.

Women's Hockey:
Last Week: RIT opened the 2016-17 season with a 2-1 win over Guelph University in exhibition action on Friday. Cassie Clayton and Reagan Rust each scored for RIT. The trio of Brooke Stoddart, Jenna de Jonge and Terra Lanteigne were brilliant, combining to stop 37-of-38 total shots
 
This Week: The Tigers travel to Minnesota State for a pair of games on Friday, Sept. 30 and Saturday Oct. 1. Friday's game gets underway at 8:07 p.m., while Saturday starts at 3:07 in Mankato, Minn.
