ROCHESTER, NY – RIT Athletics Hall of Fame member and head men's basketball coach Bob McVean is pleased to announce the 2016-17 regular season schedule. RIT will play 16 Liberty League contests, and nine non-conference games. The Tigers will play 12 home games, and face two teams (St. John FIsher College and Skidmore College) that competed in the 2016 NCAA Division III Tournament.

RIT opens the 2016-17 season on the road with games at D'Youville College (Nov. 15) and at Wells College (Nov. 21) before returning home to host the 32nd annual Harold J. Brodie Tournament. This season, the Tigers welcome Summit Wesleyan, Hartwick College and D'Youville College to Clark Gymnasium.

The weekend of Dec. 2-3, RIT will compete in the Rochester Classic with games at Nazareth and at St. John Fisher. Both games replace the Wendy's College Classic which ended last season after 50 years. It was the longest-running in-season Division III Tournament .

The Tigers host Alfred University on Dec. 6 and SUNY Polytechnic on Dec. 10 before the winter break. After Christmas, the Tigers begin play in the highly competitive Liberty League.

On Dec. 30-31, RIT will hit the road to face conference foes, Rensselaer and Skidmore before a home game versus University of Rochester on Jan. 3.

"This year's schedule presents us with a great challenge," said McVean. "Our non-conference portion of the schedule is dotted with outstanding teams from excellent conferences. Games in the Brodie Tournament and the newly established Rochester Classic will provide us with a benchmark as we head into conference play."

RIT's final 13 regular season games come against Liberty League foes, including five of their last seven games to played at Clark Gymnasium. The Tigers close the regular season with games at Hobart (Feb. 15) and vs Union (Feb. 17).

The Tigers won 12 games during the 2015-16 season, finishing 8-8 in the Liberty League.
