GENESEO, NY – The RIT men's track and field team opened the 2016 Outdoor Track Season at the Geneseo Early Season Invitational on a sunny, warm, Wednesday afternoon.
On the track side,
Jordan Sellers (Denver, PA/Garden Spot) and
Myles Garner (Gurnee, IL/Warren Township) finished first and second in the 110-meter hurdles. Sellers recorded a time of 15.47 seconds, while Garner was right behind in 15.65.
Mike Kahovec (Victor, NY/Victor) was fifth in the 400-meter hurdles in 1:01.90.
Curtis Geiger (Allentown, PA/Emmaus),
Rob Dalheim (Rochester, NY/Brockport),
Christopher Callejo (West Babylon, NY/Patchouge-Medford), and
Brendan Kirschbaum (Suffield, CT/Suffield) finished third through sixth in the 400-meter dash. Geiger recorded the top time of 51.52.
RIT's 4 x 100-meter relay team of
Markus Hines (Buffalo, NY/Hutchinson Tech.),
Matthew Lienhard (Allentown, PA/Allentown Catholic),
Tyler Quigley (Williamsport, PA/Loyalstock Township), and
Curtis Geiger (Allentown, PA/Emmaus) were second in a time of 43.53 seconds. The 'B' squad of
Rob Dalheim (Rochester, NY/Brockport),
Christopher Callejo (West Babylon, NY/Patchouge-Medford),
Jared Simonelli (Avon, NY/Avon), and
Alex De La Rosa (New York, NY/NYC Museum) were right behind in 44.61.
Hines placed fourth in the 100-meter dash (11.12), while
Jon Pelzar (Redding, CT/Joel Barlow) was second in the 800-meters in a time of 1:59.78.
On the field side,
Nick Perez (Monroe, NY/Monroe-Woodbury) was second in the pole vault with a leap of 4.50 meters, while
Austin White (Hamburg, NY/Hamburg) was tied for fourth with a jump of 4.20 meters.
Tom Callis (Tolland, CT/Tolland) was second in the javelin with an ECAC qualifying throw of 59.00 meters. Emmaniel Aire-Oaihimire was fourth and
Rajab Curtis (New York City, NY/Deerfield Academy) placed sixth.
Ian Pummell (Plattsburgh, NY/Beekmantown) was fifth in the discus throw (36.77 meters), while
Danny Conway (Dansville, NY/Dansville) was eighth in the hammer.
Michael Whelton (Boston, MA/Londonderry) and
Nick Ng (Wayland, MA/Wayland) were sixth and seventh in the long jump.
Sean Terry (Hornell, NY/Hornell) was eighth in the shot put (12.56 meters).
RIT is back in action on Saturday, April 9 at the ROC City Classic hosted by Nazareth College. The meet begins at 10 a.m.
