ROCHESTER, NY – The RIT men's track and field team had a plethora of excellent finishes performances in the five-team RIT Early Season Invitational, held at the Gordon Field House on Thursday evening.
Cortland State, Nazareth College, Roberts Wesleyan College, and St. John Fisher College joined RIT in its home-opening meet.
Matthew Lienhard (Allentown, PA/Allentown Catholic),
Christopher Callejo (West Babylon, NY/Patchouge-Medford), and
Myles Garner (Gurnee, IL/Warren Township) won individual track events for RIT. Lienhard took the 200-meter dash in an ECAC qualifying time of 22.80 seconds. Callejo won the 400-meters in 51.72 seconds, while placing third in the 200-meters.
Myles Garner (Gurnee, IL/Warren Township) won the 60-meter hurdles in an ECAC qualifying time of 8.42 seconds.
Kyle Kaniecki (Burton, OH/West Geauga) and Jonathan Ennin were second and third in the 60-meter dash, with times of 7.28 and 7.30 seconds, respectively. Ennin was also fifth in the 200-meters, right behind
Daniel Giuliano (), who placed fourth in 23.79 seconds. Guiliano was also fourth in the 60-meter hurdles.
Brian Cusack (Holden, MA/Wachusett Regional) was second in the 1,000-meters (2:41.36), while
Matteo Bracco (Blue Point, NY/Bayport-Blue Point) placed fourth.
RIT's 4 x 200-meter relay team of Lienhard,
Markus Hines (Buffalo, NY/Hutchinson Tech.), Kaniecki, and Callejo were victorious by 11 seconds in an ECAC qualifying time of 1:32.77. The 4 x 400-meter relay squad of
Daniel Carpenter (Gloucester, MA/Gloucester), Cusack,
Tristin Del Vecchio (Moriches, NY/Longwood), and
Evan Williams (Rochester, NY/Gates-Chili) were second in 3:38.78.
In field events,
Bradley Morissette (Auburn, ME/Edward Little) was victorious in the high jump with a leap of 1.73 meters.
Zach Darling (Rome, PA/Northeast Bradford) was victorious in the weight throw with a toss of 14.62 meters, while finishing third in the shot put with a throw of 12.71 meters.
Sean Terry (Hornell, NY/Hornell) was second in the shot put with a throw of 13.18 meters, while
Jake Saxton (Merrimack, NH/Bishop Brady) was fourth in the weight throw and fifth in the shot put.
Raphael Abel () and
Deryk Parsons () were second and fourth, respectively, in the long jump. Abel had a leap of 6.58 meters, while Parsons jumped 6.31 meters.
Jack Smith (Webster, NY/Webster Schroeder) was RIT's top finisher in the pole vault, placing fifth with a vault of 4.10 meters.
RIT is off until Saturday, Jan. 14, 2017, when they host the RIT Invitational from the Gordon Field House. That meet will begin at 10 a.m.
