ROCHESTER, NY – RIT head men's basketball coach, Bob McVean will be inducted into the Wendy's College Classic Hall of Fame on Tuesday, Dec. 6. The induction will take place prior to the Tigers home game versus Alfred University at 7 p.m.

McVean led RIT to a pair of Wendy's College Classic titles in 1995 and 1997. He is second all-time with 44 Wendy's Classic wins. McVean and the Tigers were recipients of the Nick Urzetta Sportsmanship award seven times. He has led the Tigers to the Wendy's College Classic title game five times, the last coming in 2005.

The Wendy's College Classic was the longest running in-season Division III Tournament, starting in 1966 before ending in 2015.

Now in his 34th season at the university, McVean is the all-time leader with 488 wins. He led the Tigers to 19 consecutive winning seasons from 1991-2010, and posted six 20-win seasons over the last 18 years. He led the Tigers to the Sweet Sixteen of the 1997 NCAA Tournament, the deepest showing in the tournament in RIT basketball history. In 2009, he guided RIT to the Empire 8 championship, and its first trip to the NCAA tournament since 2000. On February 8, 2013 McVean became the 32nd coach in Division III history to win 500 games. He is currently 546-416 in 39 years of coaching.

During his tenure, McVean has amassed six Empire 8 Conference championships and three number-one seeds in the East region of the NCAA Division III tournament. He is a two-time National Association of Basketball Coaches East Region Coach of the Year and seven-time Empire 8 Coach of the Year.

RIT is off to a 3-2 start in 2016-17. The Tigers play at Wells College on Thursday, and close out the semester with a home game against SUNY Poly at Clark Gym on Saturday, Dec. 10 at 2 p.m.
