BROCKPORT, NY – The RIT men's track and field team opened their 2016-17 indoor season at the Brockport Green vs. Gold Alumni Multi-Meet on Saturday from the Brockport Special Events and Recreation Center. RIT placed second out of six teams with 146 points, as host Brockport won with 183 points.
On the track side, RIT had four of the top five finishers in the 60-meter hurdles.
Myles Garner (Gurnee, IL/Warren Township) was second in 8.54 seconds, while
Daniel Giuliano () was third in 8.65 seconds,
Jeremy McGrath (Chittenango, NY/East Syracuse-Minoa) placed fourth and Michael Kahovec was fifth.
Christopher Callejo (West Babylon, NY/Patchouge-Medford) was second in the 400-meter dash with a time of 51.69, while
Kyle Kaniecki (Burton, OH/West Geauga) was fifth in 53.66 seconds and Lucas Hallick was seventh. Callejo was also fifth in the 200-meters in a time of 23.37 seconds.
Matthew Lienhard (Allentown, PA/Allentown Catholic) was fourth in the 200-meters, 36 one-hundredths of a second ahead of Callejo.
Eric Hambleton (Weare, NH/Bishop Brady) (1:10.46) was second in the 500-meters, while Kahovec placed fourth. Tristan Del Vecchio was fifth in the 800-meters (2:07.05).
Adam Taylor (Madison, CT/Daniel Hand) placed sixth in the 5,000-meters with a time of 16:59.02.
Matteo Bracco (Blue Point, NY/Bayport-Blue Point) placed eighth in the mile run with a time of 5:02.21.
Reid Kovacs (Palo Alto, CA/Henry M. Gunn) and
Andrew Chabot (Campton, NH/Plymouth Regional) placed eighth and ninth, respectively, in the 3,000-meter run.
In field events, Zachery Darling was fourth in the weight throw with a toss of 14.52 meters, while
Jake Saxton (Merrimack, NH/Bishop Brady) was right behind in seventh (14.02 meters).
Raphael Abel () placed fourth in the long jump with a leap of 6.52 meters, while
Deryk Parsons () was right behind in fifth with a leap of 6.44 meters, and
Nick Ng (Wayland, MA/Wayland) placed eighth.
Ethan Maguire (Penfield, NY/Penfield) placed sixth in the pole vault with a vault of 4.40 meters.
RIT is back in action on Thursday, Dec. 8, as they wrap up the 2016 calendar year by hosting the RIT Early Season Invitational from the Gordon Field House, starting at 4 p.m.
