ROCHESTER, NY -- It was another busy week in RIT Athletics with plenty of highlights. Here is a brief look back at the highlights from the past week and a look ahead at upcoming events for the week of Oct. 4, 2016.

Women's Soccer: (6-3-1, 2-1-0 Liberty League)
Last Week: RIT went 1-1-0. Friday, RIT lost 1-0 at Rensselaer. Sienna Fisher (Lewisburg, PA/Lewisburg) made six saves in net for RIT. Saturday, Riley Yanowich scored in the 50th minute off an assist from Caitlyn Daly (Glendora, CA/St. Lucy's Priory), and Kelly Rogers (Ardmore, PA/Haverford) made four saves in a 1-0 win at Skidmore.

Last Week's Results:
9/30     Rensselaer 1, RIT 0
10/1     RIT 1, Skidmore 0

This Week: Tuesday, RIT plays at Ithaca, and will host Union College Saturday at 3 p.m. RIT has two wins all-time versus Ithaca, the last coming back in 2012. The Tigers are 3-1-0 all time versus Union. Last season, RIT defeated the Dutchwomen 3-2 in Schenectady, N.Y. Danielle Losquadro (Merrick, NY/Sanford H. Calhoun) scored the game winner in the 80th minute last season to give the Tigers the win.
 
This Week's Schedule:
10/4     at Ithaca – 4 p.m.
10/8     vs. Union – 3 p.m.

Men's Soccer: (4-4-2, 1-1-1 Liberty League)
Last Week: RIT posted a 1-1-0 record. Friday, the Tigers beat Rensselaer 2-1 at Tiger Stadium. Mike Reverdatto (Bethlehem, NY/Bethlehem) and Anthony DeFeo (Rochester, NY /Hilton) each scored to lift the Tigers the win. The Tigers lost 2-0 to Skidmore College on Saturday.

Last Week's Results:
9/30     RIT 2, Rensselaer 1
10/1     Skidmore 2, RIT 0

This Week: RIT plays two games. Wednesday, the Tigers host SUNY Geneseo at 4 p.m. Saturday, RIT plays at Union College. RIT is 28-19-2 all time versus Geneseo, but have not beaten the Knights since 2001. The Tigers are 13-8-0 versus Union. Last season, the Dutchmen beat the Tigers 1-0 at Tiger Stadium

This Week's Schedule:
10/5     vs. SUNY Geneseo (Tiger Stadium) – 4 p.m.
10/8     at Union College – 2 p.m.

Women's Cross Country:
Last Week: Senior Emma Jones (Rochester, NY/Rush-Henrietta) recorded the fastest time in program history and was the individual winner in helping lead RIT to a fourth place finish out of 22 teams at the Mike Woods Invitational hosted by No. 1 SUNY Geneseo at Letchworth State Park on Saturday. Jones broke her own school record for the 6,000-meter distance by nearly five seconds, finishing the race in a blazing time of 21:39.8. She was the top-finisher out of 288 runners, defeating second place Sara Rosenzweig of Geneseo by nearly 11 seconds.

This Week: Do not compete. The Tigers are back in action Oct. 15.

Honors and Recognition:
Emma Jones (Rochester, NY/Rush-Henrietta) – RIT Female Athlete of the Week; Liberty League Honor Roll

Men's Cross Country:
Last Week: The RIT men's cross country team recorded an impressive third place finish out of 24 teams at the Mike Woods Invitational hosted by No. 1 SUNY Geneseo at Letchworth State Park on Saturday. Senior Jon Pelzar (Redding, CT/Joel Barlow) was RIT's top finisher, placing eighth overall in the 316-runner field with an impressive time of 25:35.0 over the 8,000-meter course. Junior James Bailey (Danvers, MA/Danvers) was RIT's second best finisher, placing 24th overall in 26:00.0.
 
This Week: Do not compete. The Tigers are back in action on Oct. 15.

Honors and Recognition:
Jon Pelzar (Redding, CT/Joel Barlow) – RIT Male Athlete of the Week; Liberty League Honor Roll

Women's Volleyball: (13-8, 6-2 Liberty League)
Last Week: RIT went 1-3, falling to University of Rochester on Wednesday. The Tigers competed at the Blue Devil Invitational hosted by SUNY Fredonia, going 1-2. RIT's lone win was a 3-1 win over Buffalo State in Saturday's final match of the day.

This Week: RIT hosts Nazareth College at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 5 at Clark Gymnasium. RIT also heads to Clarkson and St. Lawrence for its final Liberty League crossover weekend of the season, playing four crucial league matches on Oct. 7 and Oct. 8.

Women's Crew:
Last Week: RIT competed at the Channel on the Canal hosted by William Smith College. RIT fielded two varsity eights and a novice eight, racing against the clock on the 4.4-kilometer Cayuga-Seneca Canal course.  

The varsity eight of Francesca Scumaci (Fairport, NY/Fairport), Amy Guthrie (Essex Junction, VT/Essex), Lauren Asselmeyer (Poughquag, NY/Arlington), Colleen Ryan (Pittsford, NY/Pittsford Sutherland), Tiffany Cao (Buffalo, NY/Hutchinson Central Technical), Taylor Blackwell (Pittsford, NY/Pittsford Sutherland) and Claire Albert recorded a time of 16:36 for second place, seven seconds behind first place Division I Canisius. 

RIT's second varsity 8 also finished second to Canisius, who posted a winning time of 17:40. Powered by Kysa Willemsen (Sarnia, Ontario/St. Christopher), Mickyla Schnupp (Fairport, NY/Fairport), Catherine Evans (Sharon, PA), Danielia Reeves (Montego Bay, Jamaica/Hillel Academy), Casey Mazza (Grosse Pointe, MI/University Liggett School), Debbie Kunz (Owego, NY/Owego), Gia Quinn (Henniker, NH/John Stark Regional) and Emma recorded a time of 18:43, seven seconds ahead of third place Ithaca.

This Week: RIT returns to the water Saturday, Oct. 8 at the Head of the Genesee in Rochester, NY.

Men's Crew:
Last Week: RIT opened the 2016-2017 season at the Challenge on the Canal hosted by Hobart and William Smith Colleges. The Tigers fielded a varsity eight and two novice eights, racing against the clock on the 4.4-kilometer Cayuga-Seneca Canal course. 

The varsity eight earned the Tigers their first win of the day. Christopher Atras (Willow Grove,PA/Archbishop Wood ), Tim Frey (New Freedom, PA/Susquehannock), Connor Murdock (Hopkinton, MA/Hopkinton), Doug Moyer (Downingtown, PA/Dowingtown West), Brian Halbert (Hopkinton, MA/HHS), Mario Hanna (), James Martin (Scotia, NY/Burnt Hills), Matt Kehoe (Ithaca, NY/Ithaca) and Spencer Gasiorowski (Milwaukee, WI/Whitefish Bay) posted a time of 14:20.7. Ithaca, almost seven seconds back, and Rochester rounded out the top three.
 
This Week: RIT returns to action Saturday at the Head of the Genesee in Rochester, NY

Women's Hockey:
Last Week: RIT went 0-2-0 last week, dropping a pair of games on the road at Minnesota State – Mankato by identical 2-1 scores. Caitlin Wallace scored both of RIT's goals. Terra Lanteigne made 36 saves on Friday, while making 29 saves on Saturday.

10/1     Minnesota State 2, RIT 1

This Week: The Tigers hosts Providence College for a pair of games at the Gene Polisseni Center. Friday and Saturday's games each get underway at 2:05 p.m.

10/8     vs. Providence – 2:05 p.m.

Men's Hockey:
Last Week: RIT opened its 2016-17 season with a 3-0 victory over Brock University in an exhibition contest in front of 2,758 fans at the Gene Polisseni Center on Saturday evening. Myles Powell had a goal and an assist, while Abbott Girduckis added a pair of assists. Matt Abt and Michael Holland also scored for the Tigers. In net, the duo of Mike Rotolo and Christian Short combined to make 19 saves for the shutout.

10/1     RIT 3, Brock 0

This Week: The Tigers open the 2016-17 regular season with a pair of Atlantic Hockey Conference games at Gene Polisseni Center. Friday, RIT welcomes Robert Morris University to town for a 7:05 p.m. start. The same two teams will face-off on Saturday evening at 7:05 p.m. It is a rematch of the 2016 Atlantic Hockey Championship, won by the Tigers.

Men's Tennis:
Last Week: RIT began play at the Daemen College Invitational Saturday, but inclement weather pushed it to Tuesday, Oct. 4.

Women's Tennis:
Last Week: Did not compete.

This Week: RIT plays at Liberty League rival, William Smith College to close out the fall season.
