SARATOGA SPRINGS, NY – RIT men's crew ended the fall season on Saturday at the Head of the Fish Regatta. The Tigers earned medals in the novice eight and second novice eight.
The Tigers placed seventh overall out of 21 crews in the varsity eight. Coxswain
Christopher Atras (Willow Grove,PA/Archbishop Wood ),
Tim Frey (New Freedom, PA/Susquehannock),
Connor Murdock (Hopkinton, MA/Hopkinton),
Doug Moyer (Downingtown, PA/Dowingtown West),
Brian Halbert (Hopkinton, MA/HHS),
Matt Kehoe (Ithaca, NY/Ithaca),
Nicholas Amendola (Buffalo,NY/Orchard Park),
James Martin (Scotia, NY/Burnt Hills) and
Spencer Gasiorowski (Milwaukee, WI/Whitefish Bay) completed the 3,200-meter course in a time of 10:23.1. Columbia claimed first with a time of 10:02.3.
RIT's second varsity eight of Matt Gallagher,
Chris Satter (Boulder, CO/Fairview),
Tim Masteller (Romulus, NY/Romulus), Jimmy Cummings,
Ryan Fairbanks (Cape Vincent, NY/Thousand Islands), Joe Hunt,
Dan Kamen (New York, NY/Brooklyn Technical),
Matt Wagner (Springville, NY/Springville) and
Ishan Chhabra (New Delhi, India/Modern School Barakham Road) finished 11th of 17 crews, stopping the clock at 11:17.9. Columbia finished first in a time of 10:16.6.
Fairbanks and Cummings also competed in the double for the Tigers. They finished fifth in the eight-boat field with a time of 15:30.1.
RIT had strong finishes in the 32-boat novice 8 event, showcasing their depth and speed. Coxswain

Dan Measer (Westford, MA/Westford Academy) and
Ramsey Doolittle (Pittsford, NY/Pittsford Mendon) posted a time of 11:46.9 to earn bronze and finish third overall. Tufts claimed first with a time of 11:33.4 and Boston College rounded out the podium in second.

Co-captains Frey and Murdock are excited to see what the spring holds for the Tigers. Frey commented that after a solid race in the varsity 8, "We're looking forward to start getting ready for the spring season." Murdock added, "We've made huge improvements as a team this fall and are definitely looking towards more to come in the spring."
Saturday's race closes a strong fall campaign for RIT Men's Crew, which featured winning the Kate Louise Cup at the Head of the Genesee Regatta.
