GENEVA, NY – RIT women's crew competed on Saturday at William Smith College's Challenge on the Canal. Participating crews included Canisius College, Ithaca College, St. John Fisher College and the University of Rochester. The Tigers fielded two varsity eights and a novice eight, racing against the clock on the 4.4-kilometer Cayuga-Seneca Canal course.
The varsity eight of

Emma Will (Squantum, MA/Woodward School for Girls) and
Colleen Albert (Burlington, CT/Lewis S. Mills) recorded a time of 16:36 for second place, seven seconds behind first place Division I Canisius. William Smith rounded out the top three with a time of 16:57.
RIT's second varsity 8 also finished second to Canisius, who posted a winning time of 17:40. Powered by

The women's novice races were broken into recruit eights and walk-on eights. Led by coxswain Willemsen, RIT's walk-on eight of

Chiara Young (Sherman, NY/Panama) and
Brook Fitzpatrick () earned a first place finish in their racing debut with a time of 19:28. William Smith's walk-on eight was second, almost a minute behind the Tigers, and St. John Fisher third. Rochester won the recruit eights with a time of 17:31, finishing ahead of Ithaca and William Smith's recruit eights.
