ROCHESTER, NY -- It was another busy week in RIT Athletics with plenty of highlights. Here is a brief look back at the highlights from the past week and a look ahead at upcoming events for the week of Oct. 11, 2016. The upcoming weekend is RIT's Brick City Homecoming and Family Weekend.

Women's Soccer: (6-5-1, 2-2-0 Liberty League)
Last Week: RIT went 0-2-0. Tuesday, RIT lost 2-1 at Ithaca. Danielle Losquadro (Merrick, NY/Sanford H. Calhoun) scored the Tigers goal off an assist from Abbey Saia (Monroe, CT/Masuk). Saturday, the Tigers were defeated by Union 1-0 at Tiger Stadium.

Last Week's Results:
10/4     Ithaca 2, RIT 1
10/8     Union 1, RIT 0

This Week: RIT, who is tied for fourth in the conference standings with St. Lawrence, hosts a pair of Liberty League games this weekend. Friday, the Tigers welcome Vassar College, who is tied with William Smith for first in the Liberty League standings, to Tiger Stadium, while Bard College makes the trek to Rochester on Saturday for a 2 p.m. start. Saturday, RIT will honor the class of 2017 as they make their final regular season appearance at Tiger Stadium.
 
This Week's Schedule:
10/14   vs. Vassar – 4 p.m.
10/15   vs. Bard – 2 p.m.

Men's Soccer: (4-5-3, 1-2-1 Liberty League)
Last Week: RIT, who is tied for sixth in the Liberty League standings, posted an 0-1-1 record. Wednesday, the Tigers played SUNY Geneseo to a 0-0 draw at Tiger Stadium. Saturday, RIT was defeated at Union College 2-0.

Last Week's Results:

10/8     Union 2, RIT 0

This Week: RIT plays two games. Friday, the Tigers face Vassar College at 4 p.m. in Poughkeepsie, N.Y. Saturday, RIT plays at Bard College at 2 p.m.

10/15   at Bard College – 2 p.m.

Women's Cross Country:
Last Week: Did not compete

This Week: RIT will compete at the Pre-Regional Meet hosted by Rowan University on Saturday, October 15 at 11:15 a.m. in Sewell, N.J.

Women's Volleyball: (15-11, 8-4 Liberty League)
Last Week: RIT went 2-3 in five matches, including four Liberty League contests. Wednesday, the Tigers lost 3-2 to Nazareth College. Friday, RIT beat Skidmore in five sets before falling to Clarkson in three sets. Saturday, the Tigers beat St. Lawrence 3-2, before falling in five sets to Union in the weekend's final match. RIT clinched a berth in the 2016 Liberty League postseason tournament.

This Week: RIT hosts the 28th Annual RIT Invitational at Clark Gym this weekend. The Tigers will face Utica College at 3 p.m. on Friday and Trine at 7 p.m. Saturday, the Tigers face St. John Fisher College at 10 a.m. and DeSales College at 2 p.m.

Women's Crew:
Last Week: RIT raced on Saturday at the Head of the Genesee Regatta on the Genesee River. The varsity eight captured the Kate Louise Cup in the Women's Collegiate Eight for the first time since 2002.

RIT varsity eight of Francesca Scumaci (Fairport, NY/Fairport), Amy Guthrie (Essex Junction, VT/Essex), Lauren Asselmeyer (Poughquag, NY/Arlington), Colleen Ryan (Pittsford, NY/Pittsford Sutherland), Tiffany Cao (Buffalo, NY/Hutchinson Central Technical), Taylor Blackwell (Pittsford, NY/Pittsford Sutherland), Clair Thomas, Emma Will (Squantum, MA/Woodward School for Girls) and Colleen Albert (Burlington, CT/Lewis S. Mills) powered down the course in 17:51.14 to claim gold in the 20-boat field. The Tigers were 18 seconds ahead of second place William Smith and 43 seconds ahead of third place Hamilton.

Women's Varsity 8 – Liberty League Boat of the Week
 
Men's Crew:
Last Week: RIT competed Saturday at the Head of the Genesee Regatta. The varsity eight won the Men's Collegiate Eight and the Kate Louise Cup for the first time in program history.
 
The RIT varsity eight of Christopher Atras (Willow Grove,PA/Archbishop Wood ), Tim Frey (New Freedom, PA/Susquehannock), Connor Murdock (Hopkinton, MA/Hopkinton), Doug Moyer (Downingtown, PA/Dowingtown West), Brian Halbert (Hopkinton, MA/HHS), Mario Hanna (), James Martin (Scotia, NY/Burnt Hills), Matt Kehoe (Ithaca, NY/Ithaca) and Spencer Gasiorowski (Milwaukee, WI/Whitefish Bay) stopped the clock at 15:46.36 to claim gold in the Men's Collegiate Eight 18-boat field. The Tigers were 12 seconds ahead of second place Ithaca and the University of Rochester was third.

Women's Hockey: (0-4-0, 0-0-0 CHA)
Last Week: RIT went 0-2-0 last week, dropping a pair of games to Providence College. Friday, the Tigers were shutout by the Friars, 7-0. Brooke Stoddart made 35 saves in net for RIT. Saturday, the Tigers fell 3-0. Jenna DeJonge made 23 saves in net for the Tigers.

This Week: The Tigers host Union College for a pair of games this weekend at the Gene Polisseni Center. Friday's game gets underway at 3:05 p.m., while Saturday's first face-off is at 12:05 p.m.

10/15   vs. Union – 12:05 p.m.

Men's Hockey: (1-1-0, 1-1-0 Atlantic Hockey Association)
Last Week: RIT went 1-1-0 to open the 2016-17 season. Friday, the Tigers beat Atlantic Hockey Conference foe Robert Morris University 6-3. Gabe Valenzuela led the Tigers with a goal and two assists in Friday's win. Caleb Cameron, Myles Powell and Liam Kerins each had a goal and an assist, while Mike Rotolo got the win in net, making 24 saves.

Saturday, the Tigers jumped out to a 5-1 lead, but allowed four second-period power play goals in a span of 1:52 and lost to the Colonials, 6-5. Kerins, Erik Brown and Chase Norrish led RIT with a goal and an assist each. Rotolo made 19 saves in net for RIT.

This Week: RIT, who is receiving votes in this week's USCHO.com national poll, will play once this week as the Tigers make their annual pilgrimage to downtown Rochester to face UCONN at Blue Cross Arena as part of Brickcity Homecoming and Family Weekend. Good seats still available. RIT has sold out the last six homecoming games at Blue Cross Arena.

This Week's Schedule:
10/15   vs. UCONN (at Blue Cross Arena) – 7:05 p.m.

Women's Tennis:
Last Week: RIT lost to William Smith College, 7-2 on Wednesday. At first singles, Amelia Ying (Marlton, NJ/Cherokee) earned a tough three-set win over Hannah More of William Smith, taking the first set 6-1, before More fought back to win set two, 6-1. Ying took the third set in a romp, 6-0. At sixth singles, Valerie Luttman (Niskayuna, NY/Niskayuna) earned a 7-5, 6-3 victory over Morgan Hamre for RIT's second point.

This Week: Tigers return to action in late February.
