CASTILE, NY – Senior
Emma Jones (Rochester, NY/Rush-Henrietta) recorded the fastest time in program history and was the individual winner in helping lead the RIT women's cross country team to a fourth place finish out of 22 teams at the Mike Woods Invitational hosted by SUNY Geneseo at Letchworth State Park on Saturday.
Jones broke her own school record for the 6,000-meter distance by nearly five seconds, finishing the race in a blazing time of 21:39.8. She was the top-finisher out of 288 runners, defeating second place Sara Rosenzweig of Geneseo by nearly 11 seconds.
Host Geneseo, the No. 1 team in the current USTFCCCA Division III national poll, had five of the top nine finishers en route to the team victory with 22 points. Nationally-ranked Elizabethtown College was second overall with 55 points and Laurentian University of Canada was third with 105 points. RIT placed just behind in fourth, with 59 points.

Keira Higgins (Schenevus, NY/Milford) was RIT's second fastest finisher, placing 19th overall in a time of 23:07.8. Sophomore
Becca Schwan (LeRoy, NY/LeRoy) was 30th in 23:24.1. Sophomore
Hannah Weppner (East Aurora, NY/East Aurora) and junior
Martine Bosch (Endwell, NY/Maine-Endwell) rounded out RIT's top five finishers. Weppner was 39th overall in 23:41.6 and Bosch placed 42nd in 23:48.1.

Jeriann Beiter (Lima, NY/Honeoye Falls-Lima) (79th),
Alaina Celeste (Oswego, NY/Oswego) (81st),
Breanna Dionne (Auburn, NH/Manchester) (88th),
Emily Knaul (Sudbury, MA/Lincoln-Sudbury Regional) (92nd), and
Alex Carpenter (Webster, NY/Webster Thomas) (94th) all finished in the top-100 overall.
"The women fought really hard, as we had many career-best performances today and I couldn't have been prouder of the effort.," said RIT head coach
Dave Stevens. "We still have a lot of work to do before the pre-regional meet, but are moving in the right direction."
The Tigers are back in action on Saturday, Oct. 15 at the Pre-Atlantic Regional Meet hosted by Rowan University in Sewell, N.J. Racing begins at 11 a.m.
