ROCHESTER, NY – Senior Matt Hossack (Port Perry, Ontario/Port Perry), the 2015 Long-stick Midfielder and Division III Player of the Year, was selected 23rd overall by the Denver Outlaws in the 2016 Major League Lacrosse Collegiate Draft held on Jan. 22 in Baltimore, Md.

"We are extremely happy for Matt," said RIT head coach Jake Coon. "He is one of the hardest working kids we have ever coached so he deserves a shot to prove himself at the next level."

Hossack, the Iroquois Nationals Award winner for Division III's Outstanding Player of the Year, 2015 Liberty League Defensive Player of the Year, first team All-American and Long-Stick Midfielder of the Year started all 22 games in 2015. He led the team with 52 caused turnovers and 122 ground balls.

Hoassack chipped in offensively, finishing eighth on the team in scoring with 28 points on 14 goals and 14 assists. Hossack tallied six goals, grabbed seven ground balls, caused three turnovers and won 8-of-13 face-offs in the 2015 Liberty League title game versus Union, earning Tournament MVP honors.

"The MLL is a great fit for Matt's game," said Coon. "He is excellent between the lines, off the ground, and is a big threat on the offensive end. I believe he will thrive at the next level."
