ROCHESTER, NY - Both the RIT men's and women's track and field teams received United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) 2014-15 Division III All-Academic honors on Thursday, July 30. A total of 99 men's and 170 women's institutions earned the distinction as a result of a cumulative team grade-point average of 3.1 or better. The men's team has earned this prestigious honor eight times in the last nine years, while the women were selected for the fifth straight season.
Amherst College reported the best cumulative team GPA (3.55) among Division III men's programs. Goucher College (3.53) and Middlebury College (3.50) were among the top three. RIT had a cumulative GPA of 3.11. The NESCAC led all conferences with nine teams named as All-Academic. The MIAC had eight schools on the list, while seven SCIAC schools were honored. Rensselaer, St. Lawrence, and Vassar joined RIT as recipients from the Liberty League.
The leading cumulative team GPA among Division III women's programs was also Saint Vincent College at 3.65. Sampson College (3.64) and Macalester (3.63) were second and third, respectively. RIT recorded a strong 3.45 GPA in 2014-15. The MIAC led all conferences with 10 teams who earned All-Academic honors. The NESCAC was second with nine, while the Centennial Conference was represented with eight schools. Rensselaer, St. Lawrence, and Vassar joined RIT as recipients from the Liberty League.
