ROCHESTER, NY - Senior forward
Brad McGowan (Langley, British Columbia/Surrey Eagles) of the RIT men's hockey team, was named the Atlantic Hockey Conference Player of the Week on Tuesday, for the week ending Feb. 22, 2015. It is McGowan's first weekly honor of the season and third of his RIT career.
McGowan had three goals and two assists and was plus-3 in the weekend series against No. 19 Robert Morris. On Friday, he had an assist in a 4-3 loss. On Saturday, McGowan notched his first collegiate hat-trick, including the game-winning goal and added an assist in a 4-3 win over the Colonials. After drawing the lone assist on
Josh Mitchell (Osoyoos, British Columbia/Alberni Valley Bulldogs)'s goal, McGowan scored the final three goals of the game with RIT down 3-1 to get the win. He scored a pair of second period goals and scored the winner early in the third period. McGowan now has 33 points this season on 14 goals and 19 assists and is three points shy of 100 for his RIT career.
The Tigers wrap up the regular season this weekend with a pair of home contests against Mercyhurst at the Gene Polisseni Center. Both Friday and Saturday's contests start at 7:05 p.m.
