Wrestling falls to nationally-ranked WPI and Johnson and Wales at Northeast Duals

ONEONTA, NY - The RIT wrestling team (1-3) dropped a pair of matches to nationally ranked teams at the 2015 Northeast Duals, hosted by Oneonta State College on Saturday. The Tigers fell 33-10 to No. 30 Worcester Polytechnic Institute (3-0) in their opening match, and were defeated by No. 14 Johnson and Wales University 36-6 in their second match.

Isaiah Ocasio (Vineland, NJ), John Donohue (Smithtown, NY/Hauppauge), and Sam Weinger (Blooming Grove, NY/Washingtonville) won matches for the Tigers in the opening match against WPI. Ocasio won a close, 6-5 decision over Stephen Kendritz at 133 lbs., while Donahue secured a 12-4 major decision victory over Constantine Galanis at 165 lbs. Weinger picked up his 15th win of the season and 40th of his collegiate career, 3-0 over Austin Shrewsbury at 285 lbs.

WPI won two matches via fall, one by forfeit, one technical fall, one major decision, and two decisions for its 33 points.
Feeney and Weinger were victorious versus Johnson and Wales. Feeney defeated Francis Hernandez, 9-7 at 157 lbs., while Weinger, who went 2-0 on the day, defeated Conor O'Neil, 5-4.

RIT is back in action on Saturday, Jan. 2, as they compete at the New York/Pennsylvania Duals.
