Greg Amlong named Atlantic Hockey Defensive Player of the Week

ROCHESTER, NY – Senior defenseman Greg Amlong (O'Fallon, MO/UMass Lowell) of the RIT men's hockey team, was named the Atlantic Hockey Conference Defensive Player of the Week on Tuesday, for the week ending Nov. 8, 2015. It is Amlong's first weekly honor of the season and his collegiate career.
 
Amlong blocked seven shots, and recorded three points on a goal and two assists, as RIT went 1-0-1 over the weekend at Army West Point. On Friday, Amlong scored his team-best fourth goal of the year, was plus-1 and blocked three shots in a 4-0 win. The next night, Amlong assisted on both Myles Powell (Courtenay, British Columbia/Cowichan Valley Capitals) goals 12 seconds apart in the opening period and blocked a season-high four shots in a 2-2 tie. Amlong has four goals and two assists with 17 blocked shots in nine games this season.
 
RIT (3-4-2, 3-0-1 AHC) is back in action this weekend, as Bentley University comes to the Gene Polisseni Center for a pair of games. Both Friday and Saturday's contest get underway at 7:05 p.m.
