TROY, NY - Junior
Stephanie Milici (Rochester, NY/Greece Odyssey) shattered a school record in the 10,000-meter run and
Hailey Burkhart (Underhill, VT/Mt. Mansfield Union) shattered her own mark in the heptahlon, as the RIT women's track and field finished tied for 24th out of 61 scoring teams at the 2014 ECAC Championships hosted by Rensselaer on Thursday and Friday. The Tigers finished with 14 team points, while MIT won the meet with 56 points.
On Thursday, Milici finished ninth in the event with a time of 38:05.82, crushing the previous school record of 38:29.48 set by
Amanda Dole (Mantua, NJ/Clearview Regional) last year. Earlier in the year, Milici broke RIT's record in the 5,000-meter run.
Burkhart placed second in the heptathlon with a score of 4,304 points, breaking her own school record of 4,100 points she set last month. She was second in both the 100-meter hurdles (15.46 seconds) and 200-meter dash (27.12), while recording fourth in the shot put (9.4 meters) on Thursday and on Friday, finished second in the javelin (36.80 meters) and 800-meter run (2:33.70).
RIT's 4 x 800-meter relay team finished third in the final event of the weekend. The team of
Kristine Reed (Walton, NY/Walton),
Emma Jones (Rochester, NY/Rush-Henrietta),
Becky Greiner (Henrietta, NY/Rush-Henrietta), and
Emma Jones (Rochester, NY/Rush-Henrietta) recorded a time of 9:42.46.
Greiner was 12th in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 11:21.58, while
Liz Sofia (Bohemia, NY/Connetquot) placed ninth in the hammer throw with a toss of 47.03 meters. Jones recorded a 15th place finish in the 1,500-meters in 4:49.72.
RIT will now await potential individual bids to the NCAA Championship, which will be announced on Sunday.
