Men's lacrosse standout Jack Krzyston named 2013 PAYCHEX Local Male College Athlete of the Year

ROCHESTER, NY --
Senior attack Jack Krzyston (Bedford, NH/Bishop Guertin) of the RIT men's lacrosse team, was honored as the 2013 PAYCHEX Male College Athlete of the Year at the Rochester Press Radio Club's 65th Annual Day of Champions Children's Charity Dinner on Monday, June 9, 2014, at the Rochester Riverside Convention Center.

Krzyston, a 2013 United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) first-team All-American, became the ninth RIT male athlete to be honored by the Press Radio Club. He joins Jason Rich (1992), Tony Fraij (1994), Craig Jones (1996), Matt Hamill (1998), Ben Hunt (1999), Mike Bournazakis (2002), Simon Lambert (2007) and Jared DeMichiel (2010) as winners of the award. 

"It is a tremendous honor to have one of our players selected for this prestigious award," said RIT head coach Jake Coon. "Jack had a wonderful season and played a huge role in us reaching the National Championship Game last year."

Krzyston, the 2013 Liberty League Offensive Player of the Year and first team All-Liberty League selection, led the Tigers in scoring with a career-high 81 points on 52 goals and 29 assists. His 52 goals and 29 assists were career highs as well. Krzyston averaged 3.71 points per game and recorded at least one point in 20-of-21 games. His 81 points are tied for eighth all time in a season, while his 52 goals was ninth most in a year at RIT. Krzyston tallied nine man-up goals and recorded 45 ground balls in leading RIT to a 19-3 record and a trip to the program's first NCAA Championship appearance.

Krzyston tallied 17 points on 13 goals and four assists in six postseason contests in 2013. In the Liberty League Tournament, Krzyston had a goal and an assist versus Union in the semifinals, and tallied three goals in the championship versus Clarkson.
 
He scored three times versus Cabrini in the second round of the NCAA Tournament, and had three goals and an assist versus Tufts in the Quarterfinals. Krzyston scored two goals and added an assist in the National Semifinal versus SUNY Cortland, and tallied a goal and an assist in the National Championship Game versus Stevenson.

On May 11, 2013, he became the 41st player in the history of RIT men's lacrosse to surpass 100 career points. Krzyston, a mechanical engineering technology major, played in 17 games in 2014, tallying 33 points on 22 goals and 11 assists. A 2013 USILA first team All-American, Krzyston tallied a season-high five points twice versus Ithaca and Brockport. Krzyston, the 2013 Liberty League Offensive Player of the Year, finished his illustrious RIT career tied for 20th all time in scoring with 143 points on 93 goals and 50 assists.

RIT finished the 2014 season with a 20-1 record, advancing to the NCAA Semifinals. The Tigers, who were ranked first in the USILA poll for 11 straight weeks, ended the 2014 season with school records for 20 wins, 347 goals scored, and 573 points. In his four seasons, Krzyston helped lead the Tigers to a 74-8 record, four league titles, and four trips to the NCAA Tournament.
