ROCHESTER, NY -- The RIT wrestling team (1-2) rebounded from an earlier loss to SUNY Cortland with a 24-12 win over Niagara Community College on Saturday afternoon. RIT picked up six wins, including a pin for Tory Cain (Ontario, NY/Wayne), who went 2-0 on the afternoon, at 174 lbs.

Both teams forfeited at 125 and 133-lbs, but RIT's Jason Sepor picked up his second win of the day, defeating Tommy Nevelizer 3-1 for the Tigers first win. Sepor now has a team-high 13 wins this season for RIT.
 
Evan Vershay (Canandaigua, NY/Canandaigua Academy) continued the Tigers run of wins with a 4-2 decision over Joe Dowdall at 149 lbs. Jude Gardner picked up a win at 157-lbs when he pinned RIT's Isaac Arabadjis (Orono, ME/Orono) at 2:10. Zach Colgan pinned RIT's Coty Lutz (Forestport, NY/Adirondack) at 165-lbs. giving the Thunder Wolves a lead in the team competition.

Cain came through for the Tigers once again, pinning Gavin Pierce at 3:40 for his 10th win of the season. That win gave the Tiger back the momentum as Nick Fisk (Las Cruces, NM/Mayfield) won a 5-4 dicision over Shane Correy at 185-lbs. Jake Swearingen (Quakertown, PA/Quakertown) picked up a forfeit win at 197-lbs, and Wyatt Morris (Eaton, NY/Morrisville-Eaton) sealed the win for the Tigers with a 7-6 win over Nico Burgos at 285-lbs.

RIT returns to action on Saturday, Jan. 3 when the Tigers compete at the NY/PA Duals hosted by SUNY Oswego. Competition gets underway at 1 p.m. when the TIgers face King's College.
