RIT men's and women's track and field teams earn 2013 USTFCCCA Division III All-Academic honors

ROCHESTER, NY - Both the RIT men's and women's track and field teams received United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) 2013 Division III All-Academic honors on Wednesday. A total of 80 men's and 148 women's institutions earned the distinction as a result of a cumulative team GPA of 3.1 or better.  The men's team has earned this prestigious honor six times in the last seven years, while the women were selected for the third straight season.

Cal Tech reported the best cumulative team GPA (3.53) among Division III men's programs. Principia College (3.521) and Massachusetts Institute of Technology (3.52) were among the top three. RIT had a cumulative GPA of 3.17. The MIAC lead all conferences with nine teams named as All-Academic. The Northwest College was right behind with eight, while the NEWMAC, NESCAC, and WIAC each had seven schools on the list. Rensselaer, St. Lawrence, and Vassar joined RIT as recipients from the Liberty League.

The leading cumulative team GPA among Division III women's programs was Pomona-Pitzer at 3.686. George Fox (3.655) and Washington University (Missouri) (3.579) were second and third, respectively. RIT recorded a tremendous 3.36 GPA in 2012-13. The MIAC led all conferences with nine teams who earned All-Academic honors. The Northwest Conference was second with eight, while the NEWMAC, NESCAC, and WIAC were each represented with seven schools each. Rensselaer, St. Lawrence, and Vassar joined RIT as recipients from the Liberty League.
