ROCHESTER, NY -- RIT's Turf Field will be one of three sites for some exciting high school and college lacrosse action this weekend as part of the Flower City Cup Coaches vs. Cancer Lacrosse Showcase sponsored by Canandaigua National Bank and Trust. The Tigers' men and women's lacrosse teams will be in action on Friday, March 15 and Sunday, March 17. The goal of the event is to raise money for cancer research/support and raise awareness within the lacrosse community.
The No. 5 RIT (2-1) men's lacrosse team will host No. 14 Western New England University (WNEU) on Friday, March 15 at 2 pm, while the RIT (3-1) women will host WNEU at 5 pm ib RIT's Turf Field. The men will host Endicott College on Sunday, March 17 at 12 pm, followed by the women's team versus Endicott at 3 pm.
On Saturday, RIT will one of three locations where local high schools will scrimmage one another in preparation for the upcoming season. Pittsford will face Churchville-Chili at 8:15 am, followed by Hamburg scrimmaging Churchville-Chili at 9:45. Hamburg will round out the day of lacrosse at RIT with a scrimmage versus Hamburg at 11:15 am.
Admission for the event are available at the gate of each venue for $5 which will cover the entire weekend. There will also be commemorative programs, T-shirts, wrist bands and concessions availabe with the proceeds going to the American Cancer Society.
St. John Fisher and Nazareth Colleges will host games this weekend as well. The Fisher men's team will face Endicott College on Friday afternoon at 2 p.m., followed by the Lady Cardinals hosting SUNY Fredonia at 5 pm at Growney Stadium. The men will host Roger Williams at noon on Sunday, followed by the women versus Western New England at 3 pm
Nazareth hosts Roger Williams on Friday afternoon at 1 pm, followed the women's team versus Endicott at 5 pm. Sunday, the men will host Western New England at 12 pm.
