Ali Binnington (Oakville, Ontario/Mississauga Chiefs)# of the RIT women's hockey team was named the College Hockey America (CHA) Goaltender of the Week on Monday, for the week ending Jan. 27, 2013. It is Binnington's fourth weekly honor of the season.
Binnington stopped 46-of-48 shots in a three-point weekend for the Tigers against Robert Morris over the weekend. On Saturday, she made 22 saves in a 2-2 tie against the Colonials. On Sunday, Binnington was perfect, stopping all 24 shots she faced to record her fifth shutout of the season, as RIT secured a 2-0 win. Her best save came in the third period, as she robbed Thea Imbrogno with a sliding blocker save on a shorthanded breakaway. Binnington improved to 9-5-3 this season with a 1.88 goals against average and .926 save percentage to go along with five shutouts, tied for third nationally. In four games against Robert Morris this season, she is 3-0-1 with a 0.98 goals against average and .964 save percentage. She has allowed just nine goals in her last eight games.
The Tigers travel to CHA rival Lindenwood University for a pair of games on Friday and Saturday. Friday's game begin at 8 p.m., while Saturday's gets underway at 3 p.m.
