CORTLAND, NY - The RIT wrestling team finished eighth at the 2013 Empire Collegiate Wrestling Conference Championships, hosted by SUNY Cortland on Saturday afternoon. Messiah won the team championship with 133 points, just ahead of Ithaca, which finished with 130.5 points. RIT recorded 32 points. Sophomore #
Brad Mayville (Marion, NY/Wayne)# won all four of his matches to emerge victorious at 149 lbs.
Mayville, the top-seed, opened with a pin in 2:06 over Terrell Nixon of Lycoming, then defeated Joseph Delconte of Brockport, who bowed out due to an injury 4:12 into the match. Mayville then defeated Eamann Gaffney of Ithaca in the semifinals by a score of 4-1, then dispatched Kevin Collins of Ithaca by a score of 6-3 to claim the title. Mayville improves to 22-6 this season.

Tyler Brooks-Lambert (Seneca Castle, NY/Midlakes)# enjoyed a strong showing at 165 lbs., going 3-2 on the afternoon to finish fourth in his weight class. He opened the day with an 8-6 win over Kyle Dayhoff of Messina, then fell to Blake Fisher of Oswego, 6-1. In the consolation, he defeated Donnie VanBuren of Oneota, 6-2, and Aaron Dudley of Brockport, before falling to Greg Wetzel of Lycoming in the third place match, 12-1.
