ROCHESTER, NY - Sophomore goaltender #Laura Chamberlain (Norco, CA/LA Selects)# of the 2012 NCAA National Champion RIT women's hockey team was been named to the 2012 Capital One Academic All-America Division III Women's At-Large Team, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). Chamberlain, a second team selection is the first RIT student-athlete to receive Capital One Academic All-America honors during the 2011-12 academic year.
 
Chamberlain, who has an outstanding 3.78 grade-point average as a business administration major, was named the NCAA Championship Tournament Most Outstanding Player and earned CCM/Old Time Hockey Second Team All-American honors. In addition, she was named to the ECAC West Championship All-Tournament Team and garnered All-ECAC West second team honors. Chamberlain led all Division III goalies in lowest goals against average (1.09), highest save percentage (.951), and winning percentage (.921). She finished 17-1-1 with four shutouts. In just two seasons at RIT, Chamberlain is the university's all-time leader with a .890 career winning percentage (35-3-3) and .947 save percentage. Her 35 wins are the third most at RIT.

RIT won the 2012 NCAA National Championship and finished the season with a all-time record 28 wins. The Tigers are moving to Division I for the 2012-13 season and play their first regular season contest on September 28 at home against perennial power Mercyhurst.
 
The Capital One Academic All-America Women's At-Large program includes the sports of bowling, crew, fencing, field hockey, golf, gymnastics, ice hockey, lacrosse, rifle, skiing, swimming and diving, tennis and water polo.
