CLAREMONT, CA - Freshman Jamie Dorren (Irondequoit, NY/Irondequoit) of the RIT men's track and field team, placed 17th in the high jump at the 2012 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships on Friday evening at Fritz B. Burns Stadium hosted by Claremont-Mudd-Scripps in Claremont, Calif. Dorren's best jump was 1.95 meters. Trevor James of Carthage won with a leap of 2.09 meters.

Dorren, the 2012 Liberty League Indoor Track and Field Rookie of the Year, made his first appearance in the NCAA Tournament in the high jump, after nearly qualifying during the indoor season. On May 17, Dorren recorded a personal best leap of 2.06 meters at the College of Jersey Last Chance meet. That leap is tied for the 12th best in Division III this year and is just off of RIT's school record in the event of 2.09 meters, set by Willie Barkley in 2006.
