ROCHESTER, NY -- Seniors
Tyler Russell (Livonia, NY/Livonia) and
Jordan Collins-Hartwig (Buffalo, NY/Clarence) of the RIT men's lacrosse team were selected to play in the USILA/LaxWorld 2012 North/South All-Star Game. Both Russell and Collins-Hartwig will play for the North team on Friday, May 25 at 3 p.m. at Harvard Stadium in Cambridge, Mass.
Russell, the 2012 Liberty League Player of the Year, led RIT in scoring with 57 points on 48 goals and nine assists. The senior attack led the Liberty League league averaging 2.64 goals per game, and in five post-season game games, he recorded 20 points 16 goals and four assists, including five versus Tufts in a 15-13 loss to Tufts in the NCAA Quarterfinals last Wednesday. Russell, a 2011 USILA honorable mention All-American, became the 14th player in program history to record 100 career goals in a game versus Ithaca in April. He has 128 career goals, which is seventh all time at RIT, and has has scored 122 of his 128 career goals in the last two seasons, including a school record 69 in 2011.
Collins-Hartwig finished the 2012 season fifth on the team in scoring with 39 points on 27 goals and 12 assists. He scored a career high six goals, all coming in the second half, in a 10-6 win over Union to help vault the Tigers into first place in the conference and earning Liberty League Player of the Week honors on April 18. Collins-Hartwig, a 2011 All-Empire 8 honorable mention selection, tied for eighth in the league, averaging 1.57 goals per game, and became the 38th member in the history of the RIT lacrosse program to surpass 100 career points on May 9. He finishes his RIT career with 103 points.
