ROCHESTER, NY -- The RIT (10-6, 7-2 Liberty League) women's lacrosse team secured a berth in the Liberty League Tournament with an 11-10 win over Union College (7-7, 7-2 Liberty League) on Senior Day at RIT's Turf Field Saturday afternoon. The Tigers clinch second place in the Liberty League and will be the second seed in next weekend's tournament.
Senior Rebecca Lamspon scored the game-winning goal off a free position attempt with 7:33 to play in regulation. She finished with two goals on the game.

Katelyn Crane (Palmyra, NY/Palmyra-Macedon)# made two huge saves late in the contest, the last coming with 1:57 to play on a free position shot by Emily McGrail that helped secure the win for the Tigers.

Shelby Vakiener (Fairport, NY/Fairport)# led RIT with seven points on six goals and an assist. Lampson finished with two goals, while
Marlee Vlassis (Syracuse, NY/East Syracuse Minoa) added a goal and an assist. Her assist to #
Ashleigh Caruso (Liverpool, NY/Liverpool)# with 8:04 to play in regulation tied the score at 10-10.

McGrail led the Dutchwomen with six points on four goals and two assists. Heather Fraser had two goals, while Tory Cameron and Kat Egizi each had a goal and an assist. Kim Grinhaus took the loss, allowing 11 goals and making six saves.
Union outshot RIT 26-20. The Dutchwomen also held a 23-9 edge on ground balls. The Tigers were 14-of-16 on clearing attempts, while Union was 9-of-11. RIT went 5-of-8 on free position attempts, while the Dutchwomen were 3-of-7.
The first half saw Union jump out to a 5-3 lead on a goal from Egizi off an assist from McGrail.
Three straight goals by Vakiener, late in the first half, inlcuding one with :11 to play in the half, gave the Tigers their first lead at 6-5.
On the ensuing draw, Tory Cameron won the draw, drove into the RIT zone, found Heather Fraser with a pass, and she scored with :03 to play to tie the score at 6-6 at the break.
Vakiener opened the second half scoring with a free position goal, giving the Tigers a 7-6 lead.
Union answered with a three-goal run, taking a 9-7 on Hilary Salander's first goal of the game.
Azlein and Vakiener scored consecutive goals, tying the score at 9-9 on Vakiener's free position goal with 14:08 to play.
McGrail gave the Dutchwomen a 10-9 lead with 10:29 to play on an unassisted goal, her fifth of the game.

Ashleigh Caruso (Liverpool, NY/Liverpool) and fed her a perfect pass. Caruso caught it, took one cradle, and fired a shot into the lower right corner for her first of the game, tying the score at 10-10.
Then, with 7:33 to play, Lampson was fouled inside the Union 8-meters, earning the free position attempt. Her shot was on the mark, beating Grinhaus for what would be the eventual game-winner.
Crane made two huge saves down the stretch on free position attempts by Union to secure the win and the playoff berth.
