EDGEWOOD, MD. -- The RIT (1-0) women's lacrosse team jumped out to an 8-1 halftime lead, and held on to beat Lebanon Valley 15-8 in non-conference action on Tuesday evening.

Shelby Vakiener (Fairport, NY/Fairport) led RIT with six points on four goals and two assists. Senior (Landisville, PA/Hempfield)Becca Lampson
and sophomore (Landisville, PA/Hempfield)Ashleigh Caruso (Liverpool, NY/Liverpool)n
each tallied four points on three goals and an assist. (Landisville, PA/Hempfield)Tina Podrasky (Scranton, PA/Wyoming Seminary) had a goal and three assists while (Landisville, PA/Hempfield)Marlee Vlassis# added four goals for the Tigers.
RIT held a slim 29-27 edge on shots, but Lebanon Valley dominated the draw by a 17-7 margin. RIT won the groundball battle 24-17, and wer 2-for-5 on free position attempts.

Katelyn Crane (Palmyra, NY/Palmyra-Macedon)# picked up the win, making 12 saves allowing eight goals. Corinne Palombo took the loss stopping 10 shot for Lebanon Valley.
The Tigers got off to a 5-0 start, holding Lebanon Valley scoreless through 29:08 of the contest. Vakiener score three of her six goals in the first half, while Lampson and Vlassis each had tallies.
Lebanon Valley finally got on the board with 5:52 left in the half as Hana Krechel scored an unassisted goal with 5:52 to play in the half.
RIT, however, kept the pressure on for the balance of the half with a pair of scores by Caruso and an eight-meter from Vlassis in the final minute.
The Dutchmen came back in the second half, scoring six unanswered goals to cut the RIT lead to 9-7. Krechel and Christy Wilson scored to open the run, followed by a goal from Allison McGinniss to force an RIT timeout.
RIT shut the door, however, with five unanswered goals, holding Lebanon Valley scoreless from the 19:34 mark until Krechel notched her third of the contest with 3:37 remaining in the game.
RIT will face Lynchburg College on Wednesday, March 7 at 6:15 pm.
