Fourth quarter rally lifts No. 5 men's lacrosse to win over St. John Fisher

PITTSFORD, NY -- Trailing St. John Fisher 8-7 late in the third quarter, the No. 5 RIT (4-0) men's lacrosse team outscored the Cardinals 8-2 over the final 19:19 en route to a 15-10 win in non-league action from Growney Stadium on Saturday afternoon. RIT went on a seven goal run late in the third quarter and into the fourth to open up a six-goal lead.

Senior attack Tyler Russell (Livonia, NY/Livonia) led RIT with six points on five goals and an assist. His five goals gives him 93 for his career, seven away from the magical 100-goal mark.

Senior midfielder Jordan Collins-Hartwig (Buffalo, NY/Clarence) had four points on three goals and an assist, while Ryan Speciale (Painted Post, NY/Corning West) scored a pair of goals.

#A.J. Tingle had a goal and an assist and (Fairport, NY/Fairport)Tyler Wisman# tallied three assists.

Sophomore Anthony DeLeo (Canandaigua, NY/Canandaigua Academy) picked up his fourth win of the season allowing 10 goals and making three saves.

RIT outshot the cardinals 42-25, and won the ground ball battle 36-21. The Tigers were 9-of-14 on clears and went 1-for-4 with the man advantage.

The Tigers won 18-of-27 draws. Tyler Brooks-Lambert (Seneca Castle, NY/Midlakes) was 13-of-16 and had eight ground balls. #Alex Crepinsek had five ground balls, while James Cunningham (Fairport, NY/Fairport) had four.

Mac Keehfus (Jamesville, NY/Jamesville-Dewitt) had two of RIT's eight caused turnovers.

RIT led 3-2 after the first, led 7-6 at halftime, and opened up an 11-8 lead after three quarters. The Tigers put the game away with four goals in the fourth quarter for the 15-10 lead.

After Fisher's Connor Henderson scored with 7:41 to play in the third, RIT rattled off seven straight goals to end the third and start the fourth, taking a 14-8 lead on an unassisted goal by Collins-Hartwig. In all, six different Tigers score goals in the run, two coming from Russell.

RIT is off until Saturday, March 24 when the Tigers open up Liberty League play. RIT will host Clarkson University at 1 pm on RIT's Turf Field.
