ROCHESTER, NY -- Junior
Jameel Balenton (Syracuse, NY/Christian Brothers) of the RIT men's basketball team was named Liberty League Men's Basketball Player of the Week for the week ending Dec. 16, 2012.
Balenton helped RIT to a 3-0 record last week, including MVP honors of the 28th Annual Harold J. Brodie Tournament hosted by RIT over the weekend.
On Friday, Balenton scored 18 points and grabbed seven rebounds in an 83-71 win over D'Youville on Friday. He followed that up with 10 points in a 61-50 win over Keuka in Saturday's championship game.
For the week, Balenton averaged 15.7 points per game, 4.7 rebounds and 2.7 assists in three games last for the Tigers.
Balenton leads the team in scoring averaging 13.9 points per game and is second in rebounding averaging 4.1 boards per game.
RIT is off until Jan. 2 when they face No. 8 University of Rochester at 7 pm on the floor of the Palestra.
