ROCHESTER, NY - Freshman forward #Carly Payerl (Kitchener, Ontario/Resurrection Catholic)# of the RIT women's hockey team was named the College Hockey America (CHA) Rookie of the Week on Monday for the week ending Nov. 11, 2012. It is the first weekly honor of Payerl's collegiate career.

On Saturday, Payerl gave RIT a 2-1 lead, scoring a power-play goal with 4:23 left in regulation in an eventual 2-2 tie against CHA rival Syracuse. Payerl stole the puck from a Syracuse defenseman in front of the goal and roofed a backhand over the glove of Syracuse goaltender Jenesica Drinkwater. Payerl is tied with teammate #Ariane Yokoyama (Van Nuys, CA/LA Selects)# for RIT's scoring lead with seven points. She is fifth in CHA among freshmen scorers with seven points on three goals and four assists for RIT.

RIT is back in action this weekend with a pair of road games at Brown University. Friday's game starts at 7 p.m., while Saturday's gets underway at 3 p.m.
