Women's track and field excels at Hamilton's Continental Invitational

CLINTON, NY -
The RIT women's track and field team enjoyed an excellent day of competition at the Continental Invitational, hosted by Hamilton College on Saturday.  Several student-athletes recorded impressive showings.

Erin LaFave (Troy, MI/Bloomfield Hills Lahser) won the 3,000 meter run with a strong time of 10:40.81 LaFave won a sterling dual over Louisa Lee of Wesleyan who placed second at 10:40.87. Amanda White (Watertown, NY/Watertown) placed first in the 500-meter dash for the second time this season  with a time of 1:23.39, while Kaylin Beiter (Lima, NY/Honeoye Falls-Lima) came in second in the 1,000-meters at 3:13.78.
 
Katie Sessions (Oneonta, NY/Oneonta) came in second in the 60-meter dash with a time of 8.19 seconds, while Jasmine Poles (LeRoy, NY/LeRoy) was right behind in fourth at 8.21 seconds. Poles also came in sixth for the 200-meters in 27.98 seconds. Melissa St. Preux (Dedham, MA/Dedham) finished fifth in the 60-meter hurdles at 8.26 seconds. Kelly Fredette (Gansevoort, NY/Saratoga Springs) came in seventh for the 400-meters at 1:04.79 and fourth for the 200-meters at 27.46.
 
Beiter, Lauren Rock (Arnold, MD/Broadneck), Jeanie Springer and White placed second in the 4 x 800-meter relay with a time of 10:23.22. Amanda Gordon (Clarence, NY/Clarence), Natalie May (Colorado Springs, CO/Air Academy), Alicia Piscitelli (/) and Alyssa Ratajczak (Cheektowaga, NY/Maryvale) placed fifth in the 4 x 400-meters with a time of 4:29.97.
 
In the field events, Elizabeth Sofia placed fourth in weight throw with a toss of 13.10 meters. Gabrielle Villar (Hamburg, NY/Eden) placed fourth in the high jump and seventh in the long jump at 4.63 meters. Bietris McKeon came in fifth in the high jump.
Emily Valle (Rochester, NY/Fairport) came in third for pole vault with a height of 2.90 meters. Tara Guhr (Fallston, MD/Fallston) came in fourth for the triple jump with a leap of 9.81 meters.

The Tigers return to action on Friday and Saturday, as they compete at the GaReat Collegiate Showcase in Geneva, Ohio.
