BROCKPORT, NY - Senior #
Erin LaFave (Troy, MI/Bloomfield Hills Lahser)# was the winning runner at the season-opening Brockport Invitational on Saturday, leading the RIT women's cross country team to a second place finish. The Tigers finished with 47 points, as the University of Rochester won with a team score of 28 points.
LaFave used a strong late kick to oust Vanessa Martell by 73 one-hundredths of a second for her first win since the 2008 season with a time of 23:31.03, defeating 37 other runners. After the race, she was surprised by her father and brother who came in from Troy, Michigan to see the race.

Kate Dubuisson (Winston Salem, NC/Mount Tabor)# was RIT's second best finisher, placing ninth overall over the 6,000-meter course with a time of 24:54.78. #
Amanda Dole (Mantua, NJ/Clearview Regional)# was 10th overall, 13 seconds behind Dole.

Katrijn Moulin (Scarborough, ME/Scarborough)#, #
Danielle Marino (Saratoga Springs, NY/Saratoga Springs)#, and #
Julie Kerchner (Dallastown, PA/Dallastown)# rounded out RIT's top-six finishers, finishing 15th, 18th, and 20th respectively. Moulin finished in 25:40.79, Marino went in 26:08.84, while Kerchner was just over nine seconds behind Marino.
The Tigers return to action on Saturday, Sept, 17, as they compete at the RPI Invitational, which gets underway at 11 a.m.
