Three men's lacrosse players and Head Coach Jake Coon honored by ECAC

ROCHESTER, NY -- The ECAC announced Thursday its Division III Men's Lacrosse Upstate All-Star Team. MJ Kiekebelt (Caledon, Ontario/St. Andrews College/Aurora), Kelso Davis (Freeport, ME/Deerfield Academy) and Jordan MacIntosh (Oakville, ON/Holy Trinity) were honored and Head Coach Jake Coon was named Coach of the Year.

Kiekebelt was named Offensive Player of the Year along with selected as a specialist. Kiekebelt, who was an All-Empire 8 first team selection three consecutive years and the Player of the Year in 2011, finished the season with team-highs in ground balls (131) and casued turnovers (57), while scoring eight goals and assisting on 12 others. He was the first first-team all american at RIT since Dave Thering in 2006. Kiekebelt, a third team all-american selection in 2010, finished his career sixth all-time at RIT with 338 career ground balls and casued 162 turnovers. He also scored 38 career points on 21 goals and 17 assists.

Davis, an all-american selection in 2011 and an All-Empire 8 first team selection in 2011, was third on the team in scoring with 63 points on 44 goals and 19 assists. Davis was the 36th player in program history to record 100 points and finished his career 15th all-time at RIT in scoring with 154 points on 105 goals and 49 assists. Davis is one of 13 players all time at RIT with 100 career goals. Davis was honored as a 2011 CoSIDA/Capital One Academic All-American At-Large first team selection on Tuesday.He  has a sparkling 3.85 grade-point average as a graphic design major, is the fourth CoSIDA Academic All-American in the history of the program.

MacIntosh, who was a two-time All-American selection, is a two-time All-Empire 8 first-team selection and was the 2010 Empire 8 Co-Player of the Year. He led the Tigers in 2011 this season with 75 points on 43 goals and 32 assists. He was second on the team with 93 ground balls and won 103-of-200 face-offs this season. The 75 points in 2011 is tenth all-time at RIT for points in a season. He finished his career at RIT 25th on the all-time scoring list with 128 points on 78 goals and 49 assists.

Coon led RIT to a 19-1 record in 2011. He was named the Empire 8 Coach of the Year in May after leading the Tigers to its second straight Empire 8 Championship and a berth into the NCAA Division III Men's Lacrosse Championship for the second straight year and 13th time overall. Coon, who led the Tigers to a 14-6 record and a trip the NCAA Quarterfinals in 2010, is 26-2 over the last 28 games dating back to 2010 and is 33-7 in two years at the helm.

RIT finished the 2001 season with a program-record 19 wins. The Tigers set a record for longest winning streak, winning 19 straight games, and started the season 19-0. RIT finished 19-1, winning the Empire 8 regular season and tournament championships, and made into the NCAA Division III Tournament, beating Denison (2nd Round) and Amherst (Quarerfinals), before falling to Tufts University in national semifinals.
