ROCHESTER, NY -- Senior goaltender Bob Tonnessen (Ridgefield, CT/Ridgefield) of the RIT men's lacrosse team has been named the Empire 8 and ECAC Upstate Goaltender of the Week for the week ending April 10, 2011. It is Tonnessen's first honor this season.

Tonnessen improved to 9-0 on the season with a pair of wins. He allowed just two goals in a 28-2 RIT win over Elmira on Wednesday and followed that with nine saves as the Tigers edged Ithaca 11-9. Tonnessen has held eight of nine opponents to 10 goals or fewer.

The Tigers will face cross-town rival and EMpire 8 foe St. John Fisher College on Wednesday, April 13 at 4 pm on RIT Field. Wednesday's game will be aired on Time Warner Sports Network.
