ROCHESTER, NY -- RIT defender Jake Yates (Waynesburg, PA/Waynesburg) was named Empire 8 Player of the Week for the week ending September 5, 2010.

Yates was named the Most Valuable Player of the Doug May Memorial Tournament, leading RIT to the championship and a 2-0-1 start to the season. He led the Tigers defense that limited three opponents to a total of eight shots and scored the tying goal with 5:01 left in regulation in a 2-1 overtime win over Nazareth in the title game.

The Tigers return to action on Saturday, September 11 at Skidmore College as part of the Skidmore Alumni Tournament.
