ROCHESTER, NY --
The RIT men's soccer team opened the 2010 campaign with a 2-0 win over SUNY Oswego. The Tigers scored both goals in the first half as they move to 1-0-0 on the season.

RIT opened the scoring in the 20th minute on junior Dan Holowaty (Strongsville, OH/St. Ignatius)'s first goal of the season. He scored off a rebound on a shot from Allen Nicholson (Lewisburg, PA/Lewisburg Area).

Nicholson broke in and fired a shot that Oswego's Pat Goodwin saved. Holowaty followed the shot and was there to tap the rebound home for his first goal of the season.  It was Holowaty's 15th career tally.

Senior midfielder Dom Colaprete (Spencerport, NY/Spencerport) converted a penalty kick in the 41st minute to give the Tigers a 2-0 halftime advantage. The Lakers were whistled for a hand ball inside their penalty area. Colaprete calmly stepped up and fired a shot into the top corner for his first tally of the season.

RIT out shot the Lakers 20-6 and had eight corner kicks to none for Oswego. The Tigers committed 19 fouls to 16 for the Lakers.

Freshman Sean Conway (Orchard Park, NY/Orchard Park) picked up his first win and first shut-out in a Tigers uniform, making two saves.  Goodwin took the loss for Oswego allowing two goals and making seven saves.

RIT returns to action on Saturday, September 4 when they host the seventh annual Doug May Classic. RIT will host Ithaca College at 2 p.m., and Nazareth will face Brockport State at 4:30 p.m.
