ROCHESTER, NY - RIT women's hockey Head Coach Scott McDonald announced the captains for the 2010-11 season.  Senior Sarah Dagg (St. George, Ontario/Hamilton Hawks) will serve as the captain, while senior Traci Galbraith (Oakville, Ontario/Burlington Jr. Barracudas) and sophomore Kim Schlattman (Stratford, Ontario/Cambridge Fury) will serve as assistant captains.

This is the third straight season that Dagg will serve as a captain for the Tigers.  She was a captain in 2009-10 and was an assistant captain during the 2008-09 season.  Galbraith was also an assistant captain last year.

Dagg, a first team RBK All-American in 2010 and second team RBK All-American in 2009, led the Tigers and was second nationally in scoring with 45 points (17-28-45). Dagg, a 2010 All-ECAC West first team selection, led the nation with 28 assists. She led all scorers in ECAC West play with 35 points (13-22-35). Dagg became the seventh Tiger to eclipse 100 career points on Feb. 7 against Chatham. Dagg has 111 points (44-67-111) in 78 career games. This season, Dagg tallied a point in 19 different contests and recorded 15 multiple-point efforts.

Galbraith led all RIT defensemen in scoring for the second straight season, tallying four goals, 13 assists and 17 points.  In 18 ECAC West games, Galbraith tallied 12 points (3-9-12).  She has 49 points (15-34-49) in 79 career games.

Schlattman, the 2010 ECAC West Rookie of the Year, was third nationally among all rookies in scoring with 28 points (5-23-28). In ECAC West play, she tied for the scoring lead among all first year players with 18 points (4-14-18). Schlattman finished with nine points over her last seven games, and opened the season with 15 points in her first nine contests. She also earned ECAC West All-Rookie Team accolades as well.

McDonald, who enters his fifth season as RIT’s head coach, believes his captains will bring tremendous leadership, on and off the ice.

“It's no surprise that Sarah (Dagg) will be the captain this season,” said McDonald, RIT's all-time leader in coaching wins with 81.  “She was a leader since she arrived on campus as a freshman, and now will be entering her third year as captain of our team.  She is tremendous leader in the locker room and on the ice.  Traci (Galbraith) will be the backbone of our defense as one lone senior and will be counted on to lead a young defensive core.  After a tremendous freshman year, Kim (Schlattman) has earned the respect and trust of her teammates to be an assistant captain due to her hard work and great leadership qualities."

Success usually depends on leadership, and have three great leaders to guide us this season in the locker room and on the ice.”

The Tigers finished 2009-10 with a 19-5-3 record and were ranked as high as No. 4 in the nation.
