ROCHESTER, NY -
Senior attack #Eileen Hennigan (Liverpool, NY/Christian Brothers Academy)# became RIT's all-time leader in goals, as the RIT women's lacrosse team (10-3, 5-1 Empire 8) clinched its second straight berth Empire 8 postseason berth with a wild 17-16 win over St. John Fisher (3-10, 2-4) at the RIT Turf Field on Wednesday afternoon.

Hennigan scored five times, four coming in the second half.  She now has 136 career goals, smashing the previous record of 133, set by Pinckney Templeton (Gulf Stream, FL/St. Andrew's), who played at RIT from 2003-2006.  Hennigan broke the record with 17:17 left, scoring a free position shot to cap a five-goal rally and give RIT a 14-12 lead.

St. John Fisher scored the first three goals of the second half to take a 12-9 lead, before RIT came roaring back to score five unanswered goals in just over six minutes to take a 14-12 lead.  Hennigan tallied twice and #Danielle Previ (Medford, NJ/Shawnee)# once to give RIT its largest lead of the game, 17-14 with 6:43 left.  Ashley Fenyn and Mary Stimson scored quickly to cut the Tiger lead to one, but RIT was able to get the ball late and run out the clock.

RIT can finish as high as second with wins in its final two games.  One win would clinch third place in the conference standings.

Previ led RIT with six points on five goals and an assist.  #Shelby Vakiener (Fairport, NY/Fairport)# scored two goals and added two assists to go along with six ground balls.  She also had six of her career-high seven draw controls over the opening 20 minutes of play.

#Ashley Pezze (Guilderland, NY/Guilderland)# scored two goals and added an assist to go along with four draw controls and two caused turnovers.  #Rebecca Lampson (Penn Yan, NY/Penn Yan Academy)#, #Allyson Pisher (Holley, NY/Holley)#, and #Megan Henriksen (Silver Spring, MD/Our Lady of Good Counsel)# also scored for RIT.

#Katelyn Crane (Palmyra, NY/Palmyra-Macedon)# overcame a slow start to make 12 saves for the Tigers.  Vicki Sahm stopped 14 shots for Fisher.

Fenyn led Fisher with a goal and five assists.  Lauren Glavin added four goals and an assist, and Courtney Clare scored three times and dished out two assists.

Both teams fired 38 shots in the contest.  RIT dominated the ground ball battle, 33-17. Fisher had 19 turnovers to RIT's 13.

Action was fast and furious during a first half that featured 18 goals, nine on each side. Fisher led by as many has three, 8-5, but the Tigers responded, scoring four of the final five goals in the last 6:58 of the half.

Previ had four first half goals to lead RIT, while Jackie Maynard had four points on three goals and an assist to lead Fisher over the opening 20 minutes. Both teams fired 20 shots, while RIT had 18 ground balls to 10 for Fisher.

RIT honored its five seniors, Hennigan, Previ, Pisher, Pezze, and #Cecilia Enestrom (Medicine Hat, Alberta/Medicine Hat-McCoy)# before the game, RIT's final regular season home contest of the year.
